秦苏珊英语中心迅速扩大与著名高校合作范围 今日与上海外国语大学签约
上海2006年4月20日——普林斯顿英语集团，一个由前托福®命题总监创建的公司，与上海外国语大学今天宣布，双方将在“秦苏珊英语中心”这一普林斯顿英语集团商标之下共同创办一个新的英语培训项目。这一协议融合东西方的人才和教学理念，是继一个月前在北京外国语大学成立的第一个“秦苏珊英语中心”之后的又一个合作项目。
上海外国语大学副校长李月松说到：“上外始终致力于培养国际学术和商务方面的精英人才。依照这一传统，我们很乐意更进一步拓展我们的培训业务。我们相信这一英语培训的新视野将有助于把上海地区的英语水平提升到一个更高的层次。”
秦苏珊，前美国教育考试服务中心托福命题总监，对上海毫不陌生。“这个蕴含前瞻性与活力的大上海区是我最喜欢的地方之一。在上海，你能听到中国最好的英语口语。时值全球化新纪元，印度和东欧正在加快提升科技的步伐，中国将要坚持不懈地提高英语水平，成为名副其实的世界级科技中心。新托福网考中取得的好成绩将成为通往全世界教育和专业领域的一个保障。我非常高兴有机会和全国重点外语类大学——上海外国语大学合作。”
首批培训班将于今年6月份开课。我们将以托福网考预备班为起点。托福网考是将在今年8月份在中国推行的一种新的网络考试形式。这一新的考试除了评估听力和阅读理解能力之外，还将把写作和口语等技能结合起来进行综合考察。这便要求考生将多源的信息结合起来进行交流。

Centers Quickly Expand Through Partnership with Premier Universities
SHANGHAI, April 20, 2006 – Princeton English Group, a company founded by a former TOEFL® director, and Shanghai International Studies University today announced that they will begin working together to offer a new English-language training program, to be operated under Princeton English Group’s trademark—Susan Chyn English Center. The agreement constitutes an exciting synergy blending the talent and pedagogy from East and West, and follows just one month after the first center was established in Beijing at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Shanghai International Studies University Vice President Li Yuesong said: “SISU has always been dedicated to training elite students for global roles in academic and business. In this tradition we are pleased to be expanding our offering. We trust that this new vision of English-language training will help the Greater Shanghai area reach even higher levels of English competency.”
Susan Chyn, a former ETS director for TOEFL test development, is no stranger to Shanghai. “The Shanghai metropolitan area, with its vision and energy, is one of my favorite places, and the English spoken here is the best in China. In this era of globalization, with India and Eastern Europe racing to improve their technologies, China will want to raise the level of English in order to become a true technology center of the world. A high score on the new TOEFL iBT is a passport to elite educational and professional circles worldwide. And I couldn’t be more pleased to be working with SISU, a national key foreign language university.”
The first classes are set to begin in June, leading off with preparation classes for TOEFL iBT, a new internet-based version of the test which is scheduled to be administered in China in August of this year. In addition to assessing listening and reading comprehension, the new test includes integrated writing and speaking tasks requiring the test taker to combine information from more than one source and communicate about it.
