  • Preview
    • Skim the entire article for an overview.
    • Think about the domain of the article and its text type and organization.
    • Identify main ideas and points.
  • Question
    • Ask yourself questions to prepare your mind for ¡°active¡± reading.

Reading - Modified PQ4R ii
    • Read the article while taking notes and think about how it answers the questions.
    • Reflect (think) about the logic behind the writer¡¯s exposition or arguments, relate to your own experience or knowledge.
    • Recite the answers back to yourself; you may either mimic the writer or try to paraphrase.
    • Review your answers and compare them with the writer¡¯s.
    • Additional work
      • Make vocabulary flash cards with the help of a dictionary, record chunks of language.
      • Identify and memorize unfamiliar usages including the use of cohesive devices.
